Phoenix Rising

And just like that her life was wonderful again.

Once she had the courage to let go

Her life began, a new life, a new book.

All of a sudden she realised that

She was not unwanted or discarded,

She wasn't old and finished and grey,

She was not a worn out shoe,

She was the glass slipper.

New eyes looked back at her in the mirror.

Her body looked different to her.

Her mouth had been kissed,

With promises of many more to come.

From the ashes she rose magnificent.

Her strong body formed from sorrow and despair.

Realising that desire was still there lurking,

It just needed her to die and let go,

To find what had been there all along,

These feelings, this confidence, this self,

This life she now wanted to live.
