Guided Meditation
Drift Into Deep, Restful Sleep
A calming Yoga Nidra practice for releasing the day, quieting the mind, and drifting into deeper sleep.
This is a calming Yoga Nidra practice to prepare you for deep, restorative sleep. It gently guides you into deep relaxation, helping you release the tensions of the day and quiet your mind.
As you drift towards rest, you’ll also be invited to reflect on your intentions and set a gentle, positive tone for the day ahead.
Through mindful body scanning, soothing visualisation and peaceful affirmations, you’ll be led into a space of calm and renewal. A lovely way to wind down and restore both body and mind.
When you’re ready, settle into bed, get comfortable, and press play. Let yourself rest, reflect, and drift off. You’ll wake tomorrow feeling a little more refreshed.
Listen to the meditation
One gentle note: meditation works best as a regular practice, not a one-off. A few minutes most days will do far more than an occasional longer session, so if it helps, let this become a small part of your daily rhythm.
What You’ll Experience
Wind down, and drift into deep rest.
A busy mind and a tense body are the enemies of good sleep. This practice gently unwinds both, guiding you out of the day and into the kind of deep relaxation that lets restful sleep come naturally.
Release the Day
Let go of the tension and busyness you’ve carried all day.
Quiet the Mind
Settle a racing mind so sleep can come more easily.
Set a Gentle Intention
Drift off with a calm, positive tone for tomorrow.
Wake Refreshed
Restore body and mind so you wake feeling renewed.
As You Drift Off
Let yourself soften, one breath at a time.
The day is done now. You’re allowed to set all of it down.
You don’t need to stay awake or follow along. Let sleep come whenever it comes.
If a thought drifts in, let it drift back out, and return to the breath.
Continue the Reflection
Sometimes a meditation isn’t the end of the conversation.
Sometimes it’s the start of one. If today’s meditation has left you feeling more open or curious, you might enjoy Book Quote Therapy, my literary companion site where books, poems, quotations and Literary Prescriptions are gathered for different seasons of life.
For this meditation, I’d point you towards these Literary Prescriptions:
Rest : for the deep rest your body’s been missing.
Overthinking : for quieting a racing mind before sleep.
Stillness : for a calm, gentle wind-down.
All gentle reminders that restful sleep begins with letting the day go.
