Who I am

I’m Georgia Clare, and I run this website. Under the General Data Protection Regulation I’m what’s called the data controller, which simply means I’m the person responsible for looking after any personal information collected here.

What I collect, and when

I only collect information you actively hand over. There’s no account to create here and nothing runs quietly in the background gathering things about you.

If you email me or use the contact form

I’ll have your name, your email address and whatever you wrote in your message. The form is handled by the company that hosts this website, and the message comes through to me. I use it to reply to you, and for nothing else.

If you join my email list

I’ll have your first name and your email address. That covers the sign-up form at the foot of these pages and any free download you ask for, such as the Free Starter Kit or the Scientific Prayer Guide. My list is managed on an email marketing platform, so your details are stored on their systems as well as being visible to me. You can unsubscribe from any email I send, and I won’t hold it against you.

If you buy something

Purchases don’t happen on this site. Clicking to buy takes you across to a sales platform, which collects your payment and delivery details directly, so I never see or store your card number. What comes back to me is an order record: your name, your email address and what you bought.

If you visit The Library

My longer writing lives at blog.georgiaclare.com, which sits outside this website. Anything you do over there, including subscribing or leaving a comment, is handled on that site rather than this one. The same goes for my courses, which are delivered on a separate platform. Do email me if you have a question about either.

Why I’m allowed to hold it

The GDPR asks me to have a lawful basis for holding your information. Mine are straightforward:

• Your consent, when you sign up for emails. You gave it freely and you can take it back whenever you want.
• Performing a contract, when you buy something and I need to get it to you.
• Legitimate interests, when you contact me and I reply, and when I keep basic records of sales.
• Legal obligation, for the tax and accounting records I’m required to keep.

Other services this site uses

A small number of outside companies help this website run. There’s the company that hosts the site, the platform that manages my email list, the payment platforms that handle purchases, and the storage service that delivers the meditation audio. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job, each has its own privacy policy, and where any of them sit outside the European Economic Area they rely on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

One is worth naming, because it loads in your browser rather than working quietly in the background. Some meditation pages carry an embedded player from Insight Timer, where a lot of my library lives. When one of those pages loads, Insight Timer will see your IP address.

Everything else is served from this website itself, including the typefaces. Nothing is requested from Google when you load a page here.

Cookies and tracking

I don’t use Google Analytics. There’s no advertising pixel, no Facebook tracking, no heatmap software and no cookie banner, because there’s nothing here that needs consent for me to set.

The embedded services above may set their own cookies when you interact with them. That’s mostly the Insight Timer players and the sign-up forms. If you’d rather avoid those entirely, your browser settings will let you block third-party cookies.

How long I keep things

Email enquiries stay in my inbox for around two years, in case we pick a conversation back up. Email list details stay until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove you. Order records I have to keep for as long as tax law requires, which is generally several years.

Your rights

Because you’re covered by the GDPR, you can ask me to do any of the following:

• Tell you what information I hold about you, and give you a copy.
• Correct anything that’s wrong.
• Delete it.
• Stop using it for a while, or stop altogether.
• Hand it over in a portable format, or send it to someone else.
• Withdraw your consent, at any point, without needing a reason.

Email me and I’ll sort it out. I’ll respond within a month. If you think I’ve handled your information badly and I haven’t put it right, you’re entitled to complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live.

Children

This site is written for adults. I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you’re a parent and you think your child has sent me something, let me know and I’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If I add a new tool to the site or change how something works, I’ll update this page and change the date at the top.
