Guided Meditation
Making Peace With Who You Are
A gentle meditation for softening self-criticism and accepting yourself, exactly as you are.
There’s a quiet voice a lot of us live with. The one that keeps a running tally of everything we’re getting wrong. Too much of this, not enough of that. Always some version of ourselves we’re supposed to be improving into.
Self-acceptance isn’t giving up on growth. It’s stopping the war. It’s deciding that you’re allowed to be a work in progress and still worthy of your own kindness, right now, as you are.
This meditation is a gentle place to soften that critical voice. To stop measuring yourself against who you think you should be, and make a little peace with who you actually are.
When you’re ready, settle in and press play. Nothing about you needs fixing for the next few minutes. You’re simply allowed to be as you are.

What You’ll Experience
Make peace with who you are, exactly as you are.
So much quiet unhappiness comes from the gap between who we are and who we think we should be. This meditation gently narrows that gap, not by changing you, but by softening the constant self-criticism and letting you meet yourself with a little more kindness.
Quieten the Critic
Soften the harsh inner voice that keeps score of everything you get wrong.
Ease the Pressure
Let go of the exhausting need to be a better version before you’re allowed to rest.
Meet Yourself Kindly
Turn towards yourself with the same warmth you’d offer a struggling friend.
Feel More at Ease
Leave with a gentler, more settled relationship with who you are.
Gentle Reflection
After listening, you might like to sit with these questions.
No need to answer them all. Pick the one that lands, and be honest and gentle with yourself.
1. What part of myself do I find hardest to accept, and where did that come from?
2. Would I speak to a friend the way I speak to myself about this?
3. What might ease if I stopped waiting to feel better before being kind to myself?

Sometimes a meditation isn’t the end of the conversation.
Sometimes it’s the start of one. If today’s meditation has left you feeling more open or curious, you might enjoy Book Quote Therapy, my literary companion site where books, poems, quotations and Literary Prescriptions are gathered for different seasons of life.
For this meditation, I’d point you towards these Literary Prescriptions:
Self-Acceptance : for making peace with who you are.
Self-Esteem : for the days you’re quietly your own worst critic.
Perfectionism : for loosening a standard no one could meet.
All gentle reminders that you’re allowed to be enough, just as you are.
