Guided Meditation
Rebuilding Your Confidence
A gentle meditation for finding your feet again after a difficult season has shaken your confidence.
Hard times leave a mark. A setback, a loss, a stretch of things going wrong, and confidence that once felt solid can quietly slip away. You start second-guessing yourself in ways you didn’t used to.
That doesn’t mean it’s gone for good. Confidence isn’t a fixed trait you either have or you don’t. It’s more like something you can tend and rebuild, gently, a little at a time.
This meditation is a gentle place to start doing that. Not by pretending the hard times didn’t happen, but by helping you find your footing again, and reconnect with the steadier part of you that came through them.
When you’re ready, settle in and press play. There’s no rush to feel bold. You’re simply beginning to find your feet again, one quiet step at a time.
Listen to the meditation
One gentle note: meditation works best as a regular practice, not a one-off. A few minutes most days will do far more than an occasional longer session, so if it helps, let this become a small part of your daily rhythm.

Building the habit is the hard part. The 21-Day Meditation Course gives you a short guided practice for each day of three weeks, so sitting down to it stops being a decision you have to make every morning.
What You’ll Experience
Find your feet again after a difficult season.
When life knocks us down, it often takes our confidence with it. This meditation won’t ask you to bounce straight back or pretend you’re fine. It gently helps you rebuild, softening the self-doubt and reconnecting you with the quiet strength that carried you this far.
Soften the Self-Doubt
Ease the second-guessing that a hard season tends to leave behind.
Recognise Your Strength
Reconnect with the resilience that got you through, even if it didn’t feel like it at the time.
Rebuild, Gently
Take small, steady steps back towards trusting yourself again.
Steady Yourself
Leave with a little more solid ground beneath you than you arrived with.
Gentle Reflection
After listening, you might like to sit with these questions.
No need to answer them all. Pick the one that feels true, and be gentle with yourself.
1. What did I come through that I don’t give myself enough credit for?
2. Where has self-doubt crept in since things got hard?
3. What’s one small thing I could do to start trusting myself again?
Continue the Reflection
Sometimes a meditation isn’t the end of the conversation.

The Things I Had Never Done Before
At fifty-three, learning to run a life on my own: the French MOT I didn’t know how to book, the tradesmen who saw a woman alone, and the windows I chose myself.
Sometimes it’s the start of one. If today’s meditation has left you feeling more open or curious, you might enjoy Book Quote Therapy, my literary companion site where books, poems, quotations and Literary Prescriptions are gathered for different seasons of life.
For this meditation, I’d point you towards these Literary Prescriptions:
Confidence : for trusting yourself again.
Self-Doubt : for quietening the voice that says you can’t.
Rebuilding : for putting yourself back together after a hard season.
All gentle reminders that confidence can be rebuilt, gently and in your own time.
