Guided Meditation
Calm in the Chaos
A grounding meditation for reducing anxiety, coming back to the present, and taking small steps towards lasting calm.
Anxiety can feel overwhelming. This guided meditation helps you ground yourself in the present moment, and take small, doable steps towards easing anxiety in your everyday life.
You’ll be invited to breathe deeply, connect with the earth beneath you, and picture simple, meaningful actions that help you regain some control over your thoughts and feelings.
Rather than just offering temporary relief, this practice helps you build a steadier, lasting calm by weaving a little mindfulness into your day. Anxiety doesn’t define you. You always have the power to pause, breathe, and take the next small step.
When you’re ready, settle somewhere comfortable and press play. One breath at a time is all this asks of you.
Listen to the meditation
One gentle note: meditation works best as a regular practice, not a one-off. A few minutes most days will do far more than an occasional longer session, so if it helps, let this become a small part of your daily rhythm.
What You’ll Experience
Come back to calm, one breath at a time.
Anxiety pulls us out of the present and into worst-case futures. This meditation gently brings you back, grounding you in the here and now, and reminding you that you can meet anxiety with breath and small, steady action rather than being swept along by it.
Ground in the Present
Come back from anxious spirals to the steady ground of now.
Breathe Through It
Use slow, deep breath to settle your body and mind.
Regain Some Control
Feel a little more in charge of your thoughts and feelings.
Build Lasting Calm
Weave small, mindful habits into your day for steadier calm.
Gentle Reflection
After listening, you might like to sit with these questions.
No need to answer them all. Choose the one that lands, and be gentle with yourself.
1. When anxiety rises, where do I feel it first, and what helps it settle?
2. What small, grounding action could I take the next time it builds?
3. What would change if I trusted that anxiety doesn’t define me?
Continue the Reflection
Sometimes a meditation isn’t the end of the conversation.
Sometimes it’s the start of one. If today’s meditation has left you feeling more open or curious, you might enjoy Book Quote Therapy, my literary companion site where books, poems, quotations and Literary Prescriptions are gathered for different seasons of life.
For this meditation, I’d point you towards these Literary Prescriptions:
Anxiety : for the days worry runs ahead of you.
Overwhelm : for when it all feels like too much.
Stillness : for the steady ground of the present.
All gentle reminders that you can pause, breathe, and reduce anxiety one breath at a time.
