Guided Meditation
Stillness, Softness and Space
A gentle mindfulness practice for coming back to the present moment and letting everything else soften.
Mindfulness gets dressed up as something complicated. It isn’t. It’s simply noticing where you are, right now, without needing to fix or change any of it.
So much of the day is spent somewhere else. Rehearsing what’s coming, replaying what’s gone. This is a short invitation to step out of all that, and just be here, in the one moment you actually have.
There’s nothing to achieve. No clearing of the mind, no getting it right. Just your breath, your body, and a little more room around whatever’s passing through.
When you’re ready, settle in and press play. Let your body soften, let your breath slow, and let this be a few minutes with nothing to do but be here.

What You’ll Experience
Come back to the present, and let it be enough.
Most of our stress lives in the past or the future, rarely in the actual moment we’re in. Mindfulness gently brings you back to now, where things are usually far more manageable than the mind’s version of them. This short practice helps you soften, settle, and make a little space around your thoughts.
Arrive in the Present
Step out of the rehearsing and replaying, and land in the moment you’re actually in.
Soften the Body
Let the tension you’ve been holding ease, breath by breath.
Make Space Around Thoughts
Watch thoughts come and go without being pulled along by every one.
Feel More Grounded
Return to a steadier, quieter baseline you can carry into the rest of your day.
Gentle Reflection
After listening, you might like to sit with these questions.
No need to answer them all. Pick the one that catches you, and see what surfaces.
1. Where was my mind before I pressed play: the past, the future, or here?
2. What does my body feel like right now, without my trying to change it?
3. What’s one ordinary moment today I could actually be present for?

Sometimes a meditation isn’t the end of the conversation.
Sometimes it’s the start of one. If today’s meditation has left you feeling more open or curious, you might enjoy Book Quote Therapy, my literary companion site where books, poems, quotations and Literary Prescriptions are gathered for different seasons of life.
For this meditation, I’d point you towards these Literary Prescriptions:
Stillness : for the pause underneath the busyness.
Quiet : for turning the volume down on the day.
Zen-Mindfulness : for the art of simply being here.
All gentle companions for coming back to the present and letting it be enough.
